iPad Publishing - the iBook
How Do I Publish on the Apple iPad?
Apple Computer lifted the curtain of secrecy today and to authors' delight, the magic of book publishing was moved forward another step.
Apple's iPad features its new iBook publishing format in full color with realistic page flipping. What does this mean to authors? It means a content explosion and a move away from the King Kindle. With a backlit screen and an innately high resolution presentation, Kindle owners will sigh and you'll begin seeing their units at garage sales this Spring. The iPad doesn't stop there, and that's where the story begins.
Until we hold this mega-iTouch, we can't fully appreciate the opportunities, but addiction is sure to be a factor. As with any multi-purpose device, we tend to adjust our lifestyles to accommodate it. Thus, authors can jump on board early while the consumer is still hungry for fresh content. Traditional publishing will be slower to the market and as a result, new ebook authors can leverage the same popularity as their traditional counterparts have enjoyed for decades. Amazon sold more ebooks than paper books on Christmas Day. That was a direct effect of all the Kindles which lay beneath the Christmas trees. The economy is improving, this iBook puts the Kindle-kids to shame and that spells opportunity with a capital "O"... or shall we say "A"?
