iPad Publishing

If a million new readers in under a month isn't a market you're interested in writing for, you're not in the business of writing.

The Apple iPad™ sold over a million units in their premiere month and that's wonderful news for the community of authors who aren't under contract to traditional publishers. Why? It means they can respond quickly to a segment of the population who is this very minute browsing a modest representation of books and looking for new talent. The traditional publishing cycle can last up to two years and in today's market, those ships have sailed.  Unless you are a household name whose fan base is hanging on the promise of your next word, you need to be reflexive in serving up quality quickly.

Interested in getting your book on the iPad™?  That's perfect, because we're just the people who can do it. We'll design the book to the appropriate format and get it into the iBooks store. Check out our epublishing packages.

Memoir Legacy in mBook

memoir mbook

Many of us have warm memories of our youth and family gatherings where we may have listened from a shadow while our father told tales. There was your favorite; his crusty old great-uncle, who as a hopeful, drunken gold miner in the Sierra foothills told bawdy jokes to his one-eyed mule. What would you give to hear your father tell that tale yet one more time, in his own voice, and hear your own child’s laughter as you pictured that mule? Share your own memories with your family and give them a legacy that is rich in history and documented family tradition.

Assemble your photos and we’ll scan and group them according to theme for a permanent album. We’ll include your important documents; perhaps a scan of the family tree from your mother’s Bible, your graduation diploma or the award you received in the third grade spelling bee. Record your own voice, telling these stories and let your family bring back your voice in years to come when they are lonely and you’re no longer at the other end of the telephone. The best part is that unlike photo albums, you can make as many copies of this memoir legacy as you wish, distributing them to all your children equally.  You can even include a personal message to each one. Perhaps you wrote poetry throughout your life—include it. Write a travelogue about the many summer vacations or your life during WWII. Perhaps you have a family tartan or crest, a picture of an old family home or recipes from your grandmother. It’s your life…leave a piece of it behind.

mBook - Novel from the Old South

rocking chair for mbook

The story is set in a steamy southern town and centers around a pre-Civil War home and its aged, delicate inhabitant who carries embroidered lace handkerchiefs doused heavily with lilac toilet water. Set the mood with an animated book cover. Blend Civil War photos panned with a Ken Burns effect, fading into one another with sepia tones and ending with a photo of a rocking chair, set to align perfectly with the boards of a wooden veranda, a red geranium abandoned on its seat.

The cover is not only the perfect introduction, but can function as an eTrailer, providing a theatre-like coming attraction to your new book. Once inside, bring in a haunting old hymn—reminiscent of a graceful period in America where life meant summer lemonade and freshly cut daisies waving from a crystal vase. Break the chapters with divider pages that use a series of sepia photos, each chapter page re-playing a small excerpt of that old hymn. Let your reader hear the sounds of a southern summer, as you did while you were writing. The image possibilities here are clear and do not interrupt the reader’s imagination since they don’t include faces or complete pictures…only an intriguing trail of ethereal images that help to draw the reader in each time they read your book. The Band - a New Kind of Album

band album mbook

Have you put together a band or performing group? If you’re not a chart topper it doesn’t mean you have to fade into obscurity or not get the chance to explore some kind of commercial success.  An mBook™ can act as your album, but it won’t just be a few cuts of your best music. Do video interviews with each of the band members, at home and relaxed away from their stage presence. Include song lyrics or video from a performance. Build in a concert schedule and a link for ticket purchase.

Spice it with something unusual – favorite recipe collection, band member photography, or for the media, a built-in press kit. Imagine that today we had such a compendium that Elvis created about himself—what sort of collector’s value would that have? A couple of his unpublished songs, maybe his voice as a young child. Use your imagination and you can create a product that will be desirable and highly valued by your fans, current and future. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
